Meet Fadak

Fifteen years ago, Fadak was a refugee fleeing the Iraqi invasion. Now she is a lawyer on a mission to tell the real stories of refugees in Australia.

Something big

My partner and I first met Fadak at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. She was one of a group of refugees and people seeking asylum, sharing their experiences of living in Australia. At the time, Fadak was was organising the first ever refugee-led, national speaking tour. We wanted to contribute media that would help dismantle the stereotypes that have been created around refugees. These videos were shared by Fadak’s social media campaign.

A voice for diverse women

“Alex and Adam were fun to work with, kind and had similar values to me which is important for me in the work that I do. ”

— Fadak Alfayadh
