Indigenous Art Centre Alliance

In the rainforest just north of Port Douglas, is Mossman Gorge, the traditional country of the Kuku Yalanji people. I was lucky enough to call this my office recently while shooting video stories at the 2019 Indigenous Art Centre Alliance (IACA) conference.

Video - Arts Worker Leadership Program

IACA is the peak body supporting Indigenous Art Centres across far north Queensland and the Torres Strait. In 2019, Artists and Arts Workers from remote communities across the region came together to discuss creative possibilities for their businesses, and plan collaborations with IACA and their industry partners.

I spent three days talking to people about what their Art Centres mean to them and their communities. This video features these inspiring conversations. There’s a lot of love between the crew at IACA and their members, they are nurturing great things together.

Mossman Gorge - I didn’t make this video for any particular reason. It was just so beautiful, I couldn’t help myself.

Meet and greet - This was a fabulous opportunity to meet local artists, arts workers, and top-end arts industry folk. These are some inspiring people.

“Alex is a consummate professional. She is an excellent listener, respectful and uniquely gifted at working collaboratively.”

— Geraldine Henrici - Project Coordinator, Indigenous Art Centre Alliance
